ON THE SET: Chocolate Dipped Pretzels

KQ host Mitch Hightower is back on the KQ kitchen set to tape the Chocolate Dipped Pretzels episode. Mitch explains the ingredients, how to use them, demonstrates several decorating options and provides ideas on serving, as well as gift giving ideas. In addition to red, green, gold and blue for the winter holidays, ideas for other color schemes are also included.

RECIPE EXPERIMENTS: Colorful Sanding Sugar Shortbread Cookies

KQ partner Chef Philip loves to bake cookies.  This week he made a batch of traditional shortbread cookies and topped them with colorful sanding sugars.  The cookies are soft and buttery, and the sugared tops add a little sweetness and crunch.

KQ host Mitch Hightower baked another batch of RAINBOW PALMIERS, and we're pleased to report this round is much more aesthetically pleasing than the first. Look for this recipe to be featured in an upcoming Kitchen Queers Season 4 video.

Below: Six colors of sanding sugar were used for the RAINBOW PALMIERS.

Above: For the second test bake, half of the dough was rolled up and cut into "swirl" style cookies.

In preparation for an upcoming KQ video, today we made Rainbow Palmiers. We need to perfect our rolling/folding technique regarding the puff pastry dough so that the end results are more aesthetically pleasing. Otherwise, they taste great!

KQ partner Chef Philip baked his buttery shortbread cookie recipe with the addition of chopped, dried cherries and topped with pink and red sanding sugar. Everyone in the kitchen gobbled these up fast!
